I think an aperture is a control you can use to adjust the amount of sunlight that that reaches the picture. Apertures are also called f/stops. The larger the f/stop number the smaller the opening is .They are like the iris in our eye, the opening can get larger or smaller. Larger to let more sunlight to the flim, and smaller to increase the sunlight to your film. There is a wide aperture and a narrow aperture. The wide aperture will cause less of your picture in focus and the narrow aperture will create a sharper focus to your photo.
A shutter speed controls how long the shutter stays open, this is a digital sensor. The shutter is a small plastic thing that opens and closes this allows the light into the film or does not let light into the film.
